Job description

Alrighty! We’re looking for an Android native whiz, with a serious interest in shiny new applications. You will initially be working on an app for one of NZ’s largest companies to reliably bring streaming video to the masses, and the sky[net]’s the limit from there!

Skills & requirements

Excellent communication skills.

T-800 (sometimes the older model is better) level Android skills: preferably 4+ years’ commercial experience building high quality Android Java applications using industry best practice.

Strong knowledge and experience with Android SDK’s of past and present (almost as if you were a robot sent from the future).

Experience with Android Java and the Gradle build system.

Familiarity with mobile app CICD tools and workflows.

You are a master debugger, you’re methodical and clinical bug Terminator (zing), and getting into bare metal isn’t something you’d be shy about.

You’ve shipped apps, many times.

You dig agile development and you really know - and can show your experience with - the whole software dev life-cycle. You’re a start-to-finish kinda kid.

Documentation and communication (in-person, email, slack, carrier pigeon if need be) doesn’t scare you.

You need a reasonable opinion around here so you can share recommendations and alternatives objectively. Plus, it helps when deciding where to go for lunch.

You’re effective by nature - you like to move fast, you like prototyping, and you love validating and being thorough in all aspects of your day-to-day job.

You’re searching for John or Sarah Connor.
