These are the most fun days I've had in Sydney:

Ferry to Manly, fish and chips from Ocean Foods, sit on the beach to eat, borrow a book from Manly library, read on the beach or swim, get some dessert at Movenpick/Ben and Jerry's and head back on the ferry at sunset.

Market crawl on a Saturday: Glebe markets, Paddington markets, Rozelle and Balmain markets, lunch from one of the food stalls, and the fun of finding unexpected gold while rifling through second hand books, vintage clothes, arts and crafts, fudge and special jams.

Get together a group of friends and spend the day ice skating at Macquarie Ice Rink, or laser tag (!!) and bowling at Darling Harbour, or best of all, one of the escape room venues at the Rocks or Ultimo (so much fun, especially if you like games, puzzles and adventure).

Dress up at the Chinese Gardens in traditional dress, wander around the floral masterpieces but avoid the bird poo! :P Check out Imax while you're at it for the world's biggest 3D cinema screen.

Pack a picnic and ask everyone to bring a plate, set up on the grass or beach at Coogee and spend the day people watching, swimming, reading, with music (bring speakers). Alternative locations: Observatory Hill for stunning views of the harbour.

A day of checking out the shops and cafés on King Street in Newtown (opshops, vintage, factory outlets, boutiques, antiques) then spoilt for choice with dinner (I recommend African Feeling, Gigi's and Pastizzi).

Friday night Luna Park with a friend, then midnight Pancakes on the Rocks at the Rocks (open 24 hours :) My favourite are the Devil's Delight pancakes.

Do the bridge climb and get closest to the Harbour Bridge and birdseye views of the city or if it's too expensive, pay $13 to climb the pylons!

Living in Sydney I was lucky enough to live close to a small but brilliant beach called Bronte and being a shift worker, that meant I could enjoy surfing most days. That was a definite plus for me but it’s un-affordable for most people. I also enjoyed sailing on Sydney Harbour in a catamaran. Again, very enjoyable but probably difficult for most people. I used to enjoy the nightlife, but that was a long time ago when the Australian rock industry was alive and live.

Walking is a big part of my life now and there are many places to walk, both the northern and southern beaches as well the harbour have walking trails as well as Centennial Park which is convenient. Also you should try walking around the rocks area, the quay and over the bridge.

When I visit people I try and take the train as much as possible, which outside of peak hour is a somewhat enjoyable experience and a great way to see Sydney without the hassle of driving. Apart from the aforementioned subjects there is no reason to venture into the city CBD because everything else can be sourced locally. Plenty of local restaurants, pubs and markets etc.

These days, my favourite attraction is going to the SCG and enjoy watching the Sydney Swans play in the AFL. It’s usually the biggest football game in Sydney and has atmosphere and character.

Edit: This was in answer to my favourite things about Sydney and obviously that might be different from “most fun things to do in Sydney”.
