Developed from the historic 774 AD "Brie de Meaux" recipe, Lindis Pass is Whitestone's latest brie creation. Designed to satisfy the most discerning cheese lover, this brie style requires full ripening to realise its potential, releasing its complex earthy mushroom flavours.

Named after the mountain pass which is the start point of North Otago's Waitaki river catchment, this fits with a cheese recipe that dates back to the creation of fine cheese.

Made in a traditional large 1.8kg maxi round, Lindis Pass is only available from specialist cheese delis or factory direct.

 Marzotica is excellent when grated over pasta and on strips of stir-fry beef with balsamic vinegar, tomato and rocket. This cheese can be grilled in a frying pan as one would grill houlami, or used in a fresh salad like you would use feta cheese.

If you have chilly jam or some other favourite chutney you can spread a veil of it over the cheese as it is well adapted to blend with other flavours.

Smoked Marzotica

Freshly smoked cheese (marzotica affumicata) is ideally eaten on crackers and accompanied with a glass of wine or beer.

It's also excellent for pizza.

 Scamorza is a spun cheese, made from cow's milk, the only worthy substitute for mozzarella when making pizza or panzerotto.

Although made without preservatives our vacuum packaging makes it suitable for storing in the refrigerator (sealed) for up to 30 days.


Scamorza is best eaten at room temperature on a slice of bread, or for a more intense flavour: reheat it for about ten seconds in the microwave.
Better still, in a conventional oven, after a few minutes, the bread becomes crisp and golden and the scamorza (plain or smoked) begins to melt.

For additional flavours, you can always add a pinch of oregano or a mix of herbs, pepper and salt.

Smoked Scamorza

We recommend to try our smoked scamorza (scamorza affumicata). It's wonderful on pizza and if you like different flavours- you can add salmon, ham or even better, speck (bacon).

Plain scomorza is perfect for baked pasta dishes, stuffed eggplant and in panzerotto, wrapped in a slice of ham or speck (bacon) and then melted in a terracotta dish in the oven and served as a hot appetizer or main dish.

It can also be an ideal condiment for plain rice: just put the dish in the microwave for about ten seconds at full power thereby allowing the cheese to melt slightly.

 Mozzarella is a generic term for several kinds of Italian cheeses that are made using spinning and then cutting, hence the name, as the Italian verb "mozzare" means "to cut".

Our Mozzarella is made of cow's milk, in Italy it is referred to as "Fior di latte" (also written as "fiordilatte"), as to distinguish Mozzarella that's made from buffalo's milk.

We make our Mozzarella twice a week, according to the cheese-making traditions of Puglia, the region in Italy we come from.
It has to be fresh to fully appreciate its delicate texture and taste. After 4 days it can still be enjoyed on pizza or melted on bruschetta, but if you're planning to serve a delicious Italian Caprese salad for lunch, the Mozzarella has to be as fresh as possible.

Come and see us at one of the farmers' markets, because no supermarket can give you the freshness of our handcrafted Mozzarella. Once tasted you don't want anything else!

So Mike was able to hand pick engineers capable of producing the same levels of outstanding work that Design Energy had become known for. Mike didn’t always get the right person and engineers who struggled with the extremely high expectations came and went, till what was left was a team of extremely talented and highly motivated engineers.Word of this team got around and Design Energy was approached by two of the world’s top robotic companies to represent their brands in New Zealand. The team took up this challenge and trained with Nachi and Universal Robots technical staff to become experts in the specification and integration of their robots.

Mike founded Design Energy in 2007 after building a successful career in design engineering and in various management roles.  Trained as a mechanical engineer, Mike has over 20 years’ experience in the commercial and technical aspects of product development, manufacturing, industrial process and automation.




Andrew Ireland

General Manager

Andrew graduated with honours from Canterbury University completing a BE in mechanical engineering. He has a broad range of experience working as a product designer, mechanical engineer and operations manager for New Zealand design consultancies.




David Bates

Mechanical Engineer

David holds an honours degree in mechanical engineering, and has gained much of his professional experience working as a design engineer for Scott Technology, before joining the Design Energy team.




Chris Rodwell

Chris studied mechanical engineering at Christchurch Polytechnic, he has extensive engineering experience working as a machine designer for Scott Technology and as the lead engineer at Newsmith Pacific Systems before joining the Design Energy team.

DHH’s keynote at RailsConf 2019 “on the topic of open source, markets, debts, purpose, and no less than the meaning of life.” It’s pretty wide-ranging (he discusses Marcus Aurelius and David Graeber, Dostoyevsky and Daniel Pink, and throws a little Kierkegaard in the mix, so you know this is going to be a little off-the-wall) but I like the general point: that “open source” can be viewed through a broader perspective than a market metaphor. Broadly, he argues that thinking purely in market terms can be reductionist (there’s more to it than a spectrum with Bill Gates on the one side and Richard Stallman on the other), and that adopting the MIT license is compatible with seeking “happiness” in the sense of finding meaning and purpose with your work – a goal which is harder to achieve with copyright or the GPL. They also depend on our cloud based SaaS and industrial IoT platform which is what you will be helping to design and build from the ground up. This system is used to monitor stock health, feed, behaviour and emotion so that farmers can better understand and treat the needs of each animal.




There are many interesting challenges to be solved, from handling intermittent connectivity to on-farm devices, to designing a highly scalable multi-tenanted system that will grow to support hundreds of thousands of connected devices. Core Duties

Lead the technical design of our front end systems and help build a world-class front end practice.
Provide early input to our design team to streamline designs for implementation, and participate in design reviews for new features, products, and systems.
Collaborate with our design team to create interactive interfaces and rapid prototypes of design concepts as well as responsive and accessible designs.
Contribute to the creation of a common development framework and set of patterns that will enable both rapid and reliable implementation whilst allowing both the engineers and teams working on the project to scale independently.
Contribute to the high level systems architecture and help to ensure the architectural vision is carried out by the various development teams.
Drive the evolution of development standards and patterns which guide the architecture of our front end systems.
Mentor team members and grow front end engineering competencies throughout the engineering team, provide feedback to improve the usability of the product and reduce the complexity of the user interface.
Maintain high levels of communication with fellow engineers and other teams about product requirements, timelines, risks, and priorities.
Stay up-to-date with your area of expertise and ensure the team is aware of new technological advances and better ways of working.

Familiar with working in a highly collaborative team environment using Agile methodologies is desirable.
BSC or BE in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field is preferred but not required.

Support the onboarding, training and implementation of the Halter system on customers’ farms, ensuring all relevant farm owners, managers and workers are able to successfully use the system

In this role, you will be a key contributor to one of FaceMe’s core product teams and will play an important role in helping to develop FaceMe’s platform and take it to market. In particular you will be a key member of the developer experience team; the team responsible for the development of FaceMe's SDK and self-service user experiences.

What you're trying to achieve:

Deliver a high quality of development output via code that is well-crafted, comprehensively unit-tested and appropriately documented.
Maximise system quality by quantifying, testing and understanding changes in the context of the end to end system.
Help de-risk complex development efforts participating in product discovery activities, experiments and proofs-of-concept.
Encourage the adoption of continuous integration, and always be looking for opportunities to level up the team’s deployment practices and overall productivity.
Help ensure that reasonable expectations around delivery are set with stakeholders.
Support the professional services team in situations where product issues need to be troubleshooted and resolved.
Work closely with QA to both triage product defects, and collaborate on strategies for defect prevention.
Help ensure that FaceMe’s platform operates within the SLAs agreed with customers, and meets internal non-functional requirements.

To be successful, you will collaborate with other senior engineering staff on architectural and technical design decisions. You will work alongside the SRE team to help improve their product team’s devops practices and discover optimal ways to productionise code. You will also be an active participant in the team’s delivery processes (e.g. leading planning/grooming sessions, suggesting improvements at retrospectives, demoing at reviews etc.).

This begins with the accurate gathering of customer requirements through to the completion and communication of project outcomes. You will:

Ensure our customer implementation projects generate a positive commercial return for our customers.
Ensure our customers are net promoters of FaceMe. In particular that they are promoters of the implementation process.
Develop common engagement models and practices to drive down costs of execution while maintaining high customer engagement and satisfaction.
Work with the Director of Professional Services to ensure our core values are nurtured and enhanced.

As a Product Manager in our team, you will:

Deeply understand customer problems, empathise with their challenges and identify areas in which digital humans could make a difference.
Work with stakeholders within FaceMe (e.g. sales, marketing, customer success) to equip them with the product knowledge they require, and understand their needs.
Work with designers, researchers and engineers to test solution ideas and discover problem-solution fit.
Bring a methodical, systematic approach to prioritisation (e.g across features, technical debt, items, bugs etc.) which takes emphasises customer value and weighs up different drivers.
Keep the product backlog well maintained, and working with engineering to manage releases, navigate roadblocks etc,
Support the go to market process and communicating key product updates and changes across the organisation
