Washington - Republican Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) announced on Tuesday, March 14th that he will soon release a detailed report revealing the latest information about the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a press release from Senator Rubio's office, this upcoming report collects "mountains of indirect evidence showing that the COVID-19 pandemic may have originated from an accident at a Chinese Wuhan laboratory."

The press release stated that this report compiled a series of events in China before the outbreak of the pandemic.

"This report discovers and will publish evidence previously unknown or ignored by the US government," said Senator Rubio in his statement. He also stated that his office spent nearly a year and a half investigating the origin of COVID-19, and this report reflects their findings.

Rubio's office also released a roughly 30-second trailer about this report.

"We were told that this disaster was natural behavior, but Chinese documents tell another story," says narration in the trailer.

"We have enough pieces of information to put together to change the entire narrative. They went to great lengths to ensure that all facts are never known," said Rubio in his preview video, pointing directly at China's Communist Party trying to cover up all relevant information.

The Rubio office did not disclose the specific date of the report's release, only stating that it will be released "soon."

Last month, the US Department of Energy concluded with "low confidence" that the most likely origin of the coronavirus was a laboratory leak. This news has once again sparked discussions on the issue of tracing the origin of COVID-19. Other US intelligence agencies still have different opinions on whether COVID-19 originated naturally or from a laboratory leak.

Rubio, a Republican federal senator from Florida, is vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Last week, he questioned five top US intelligence leaders who testified at an annual security threat hearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee regarding questions about COVID-19's origins.

"The FBI has been assessing since summer 2021 that pandemic origins may have resulted from a lab accident in Wuhan," said FBI Director Christopher Wray at that time.

US National Intelligence Director Avril Haines stated during her testimony that various intelligence departments have yet to reach a consensus on their final conclusion regarding COVID-19's pandemic origins.

Haines said they had been trying hard to find new information leads. "I think you're absolutely right; China hasn't fully cooperated and we believe this is a critical gap which would help us understand what happened," Haines said.

"I want to point out there is no smoking gun (direct evidence) for us," Rubio said during his testimony. "We found people coming out saying 'we had a lab leak.' We also don't have conclusive evidence it was natural either, which should be easiest for them to prove by holding press conferences showing us bats or pangolins and say 'this is it; this virus came from this animal' because it wouldn't just be one animal; it would be quite common."

"For China, this would be easy to do but they haven't done so," Rubio said. "I think that's pretty powerful reason to suspect something other than natural occurrence because they've done it before with another pandemic."

On March 8th, The House Oversight Committee’s Subcommittee on Coronavirus Crisis held its first hearing investigating Covid-19’s origins. Former CDC director Robert Redfield testified saying he still believes today more likely than not Covid-19 originated accidentally in a Chinese lab while former White House official Jamie Metzl accused China obstructing international investigations into Covid’s origin leading up until now.

The US House of Representatives passed a bill unanimously with 419 votes in favor and 0 against last Friday, requiring the declassification of US intelligence related to the origin of COVID-19. The bill had previously received support from the Senate and will now be sent to the White House for presidential signature.

If signed into law, the bill would require "all information relating to potential links between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the origins of COVID-19" to be declassified within 90 days.
